Megha Engineering & Infrastructure Limited said it has emerged as the lowest bidder for the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract by the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL).
The tender was the highest-value tender ever called by NPCIL, and MEIL submitted the lowest bid of ₹12,799.92 crore. The project involved construction of 2×700 MW electrical reactors at Kaiga in Karnataka, representing a significant milestone in the country’s journey towards clean and reliable nuclear energy.
The tender process saw bidding from prominent industry leaders like BHEL and L&T. MEIL claimed it emerged as the lowest bidder, because of its “exceptional technical capabilities and cost-efficiency”.
“This contract represents the most significant project for MEIL and our entry into the nuclear energy sector,” said MEIL director Ch. Subbaiah.
